Today has passed by and it is time for a new day to enter (soon anyway). As we look back on today as if it was the past we see down memry lane, and what better way to celebrate that than with a clip from a 1965 Jerry Lewis show. This clip is really good and funny too.
I don’t really have anything to post today, I just got through a few funny clips and good adverts so I thought I would share those with you.

Yes I know it’s Saturday, but I don’t have anything for the Photohunt this week. Mostly time constraints but I just thought of doing a little post quickly to give a couple of comments on the MyFest concert I attended yesterday.
I don’t have any specific favourite bands I can list Springbok Nude Girls, Parlotones, and Cassette for the local scene. Fevertree was great, I know they are a pretty new band but man have they got a good stage presence. If anyone from Fevertree happens on to this blog, you guys are going to go far I think. They have great music and really know how to handle the audience.
From the internationals, I think my most favourite was Hoobastank. Those guys are awesome, have a great stage presence really awesome music. I was a bit turned off by some of the language, but I think they are rap generation Americans which is probably where that comes from. Besides the language, if I got a chance, I would go see them again. I might even buy a CD if I decide to start a non-Christian collection. The drummer was awesome and I would love to practice to some of the beats he uses, I think I just decided to go buy a CD
I left before Evanescence or Wickhead played. I heard though that Evanescence has a very morbid style, and I am not a fan of music that comes bundles which razor blades so it’s just as well I left early. I heard Wickhead was good though but It would have been too late especially since I was at worship practice the this morning. To come back to Hoobastank, I just listened to a podcast interview with one of the band members (Here) it was interesting. I mentioned that they have a good stage presence, an example is that when the international bands came on they marked out clear boundries for cameramen in front and on the stage. One of the cameraman broke the ‘rules’ and got closer into the bands, he was then dragged by one of the crew members into the ’safe area’. The lead singer of Hoobastank promptly went to the cameraman, grabbed him by the camera and dragged him into the no-go area and pointed the camera at the fans rocking in the crowd. That was a truly awesome move and one which I think went noticed and was appreciated by a whole bunch of people. The band was really down to earth and your could see that they really enjoyed playing the music to the crowd.
Anyway to end off this short (ok it’s pretty long I admit
) post I just wanted to say, if any Hoobastank band members find this site, you guys are awesome, really enjoyed you in South Africa, and keep up the good work, and when you headline next years Coke fest, I will be there in the front of the stage and will not leave early, I promise.

Just listened to staind, the guys need to have more fun on stage. The drumm=
er seemed to be enjoying themselves but the rest of the band have a “we hav=
e been paid to play here tonight” attitude. And when I saw two band members=
spit into the audience they went from bottom of my favorites list to total=
ly off it.
3 doors down r playing now, I have left the golden circle for a bit so I ca=
n’t see them really but they are sounding great.

Just watched J they have a terrible stage presence. Most of the time the dr=
ummer looked bored.=20
They had one pretty good song at the end though.
Isn’t it funny though how in the first two or three bars of a song u know =
whether u will enjoy a band. Well that happened with cassette. They r aweso=
me, brilliant stage presenceand something for the guns n roses fans. Check =
out the photos at flickr.
More l8r, u should b here though :-D=

Well another day has passed, this week seems to be flying. Maybe it’s just because I am looking forward to the concert on Friday. So with the postponement of the Guns ‘n Roses global tour, the lineup for Friday looks like this according to the 5fm website:
12.15 - 12.45 Fevertree 30 mins
13.00 - 13.30 J 30 mins
13.45 - 14.15 Cassette 30 mins
14.30 - 15.00 Evolver 30 mins
15.15 - 15.45 Parlotones 30 mins
16.00 - 16.30 SNG 30 mins
17.00 - 18.00 Hoobastank 60 mins
18.30 - 19.30 Staind 60 mins
20.00 - 21.00 3 Doors Down 60 mins
21.30 - 23.00 Evanescence 90 mins
23.20 - 23.50 Wickhead 30 mins
Now I have heard Springbok Nude Girls (SNG) and Parlotones and their music is pretty good (For non-Chrisitian bands that is
) but I have never heard of any of the others so I think it will be an experience to remember.
And there’s even more, I am planning on moblogging from the event. Now I am not promising that I will have my blog ready for moblogging but I am going to try and get it working tomorrow so anyone who wants to read the latest will be able to follow along. I will let you know if any of the ridiculous things that happened last year happen again this year. (Read about it Here or Here) I think that people have been unsure about the organisation of this concert, so when G&R cancelled I think half the people looked back to last year, shook their heads and returned their tickets. Well there are no complaints from me, as I was too late to get Golden Circle tickets but someone cancelled theirs making more available so I upgraded my tickets.
I can’t say much for the marketing of the concert though. I saw some new advertising boards go up this week advertising Gun ‘n Roses live in concert. That will require some explaining
Well I am gonna sign out now, but want to leave you with this, its hilarious.

For some reason I managed to get myself onto a marketing mailing list, but found that some of the articles are so interesting that I can’t bring myself to unsubscribe. Today there was a very interesting article on the new advertising campaign for a South African mobile phone company called MTN. The campaign is created by an advertising agency called The Jupiter Drawing Room/MetropolitanRepublic. They have done some good stuff in the past but this campaign is rather controversial due to the fact that they seem to have taken ideas (and in the case of one ad, a direct copy of the video, edited to fit into 30secs), from You Tube videos.
Comments on the article range from it being direct theft, to simple non-innovation. Talking about adverts and innovation, one of the comments points to a UPS campaign which is absolutely brilliant. You can get the UPS videos here, do yourself a favour, check it out.
Well I picked up my tickets for the Coca Cola MyFest today. I think it’s gonna be great, it will be my first non-Christian concert so it will be interesting to see. Guns ‘n Roses were supposed to be headlining the concert but due to injury have cancelled.
From GunsnRoses.com:
“I feel so bad right now,” explains bassist Tommy Stinson. “I accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. I put my hand down to break my fall and heard a loud ‘pop.’ The next morning my hand looked like a balloon. I went to see my doctor, and while the good news is that it’s not broken, the bad is news is it’s severely sprained and I may have done some ligament damage
I would post photos but no Imaging devices are allowed
Well thats it for today.
