Monday Madness

Posted in General, Monday Madness

I always struggle with monday posts as it seems like such a long day at work. So I have found a monday meme that with hopefully absolve me from writing too much on mondays.

So here is the first set of questions for this monday:

1. Name a song you know most (or all) of the words to.
Blessed be your name, You are Holy, Awesome God
2. Name a movie that you have watched more than once and would watch again.
             Wargames
3. Have you ever read a book more than once? Please share.
Not that I can remember, I would read Jurassic Park again
4. Share an inspirational quote with us.
“If sinners be dammed, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies.
If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees.
Let no one GO there UNWARNED and UNPRAYED for.”
                     - Charles Spurgeon
5. What day of the week does (or did) your birthday fall on this year?
              Friday
6. Have you ever bought a book or cd or movie more than once because you forgot you bought it already?
Nope but I have bought two books at the same time to give away one

Church Swap

Posted in General

Today we had a pulpit swap with another church. For those who don’t know what this is, it means that two different pastors preach at the other pastors church. This swap though involved the worship team, so we all went across to another church while the their team went to our church.
I was fairly nervous and made huge mistakes in my playing but no-one seems to notice it when I skip beats or struggle with something.

After church I went with a friend to Wonder Caves in the Rhino and Lion park. Man are those things great. My photos are mostly very blurred due to the lack of light in the cave.I will try and remember to post some photos during the week but now I need to get some sleep.

fuelmyblog

Posted in General, fuelmyblog

It’s competition day today over at fuelmyblog.com. I have entered the following photo:

Window Reflection
click for larger

I took the photo when at Sterkfontein caves in South Africa , we were looking at the fossil room when I saw my friends son reflecting in the window and I just had to take a photo. Anyway guys pop on over to the Fuel my blog website and check out the other entries.

I read today that the US had the Patriot act ready for 20 years before implimenting it as a result of the 9-11 incident. Does this mean that had they implimented it before, would they ahve been able to prevent the whole disaster? I don’t want to speculate on that, but the whole point of the article I was reading was that they now have a law which will allow them to control the internet. They are just waiting for some cataclysmic event so they can rush in with this law. Imagine having to have a blogging license, or having blog inspectors visiting your site every couple of weeks. I personally think that they will never be able to police the internet like that, it is way too large and multi-national for that. The link to the article is here.

The new cymbals

Posted in General, Links, UQWIA

Well here they are as promised earlier in the week. I have snapped some pics of my new cymbals. As I mentioned they sound pretty cool. Anyway here are the pics, as always click on the thumbnails if you would like bigger pics.

The Ride Cymbal The Ride Cymbal     The Hats   The Hats

The Crash             The crash     The Kit    The Kit

Well there you go, anyone who is interested can now see my new toy :-)

Today’s useless question is “Why does paper cut” and the answer can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_cut. As always a very interesting answer from wikipedia.

I phoned Vodacom today to finally cancel my mom’s cellphone contract. She has only been away for like 4 months and I only get around to cancelling her contract now. The interesting thing is though, the guy tells me that due to a 30 day notice period I will receive 1 more bill in may. Then he tells me but there is a loophole. If I convert the number to pre-paid, which happens immediately, there will be no more bills from them.
Thanks to the kind soul at Vodacom who saved me a couple hundred bucks.

A friend sent me this awesome website tonight, it’s called keepvid.com and allows you to download videos from the most common video sites like You Tube, Google Video and sites like that. I wonder if it works on our local video site www.myvideo.co.za? I will try it and see if it does, that would be interesting. If you are interested in a really hilarious video, you can see it at http://keepvid.com/watch/2

Tiring Tuesday

Posted in Links, Work

I have been so busy today at work, but still felt like I didn’t acheive any significant landmarks. Oh well maybe tomorrow I will be less busy but acheive more.

I watched Blade Runner this evening. It’s the kind of movie that hold your attention enough to keep you watching, but not enough for you to think that the movie is fairly slow and kinda boring. It’s about this guy that hunts these robots for no particular reason than it’s his job. (Except he is retired or quit or something like that but they call him in) A funny quote though from the movie is when Harrison Ford’s character asks the chief of police why they don’t send another blade runner in to do the job, and the chief replies “I did, he can breath fine as long as they don’t switch off the machines” :-)

I have decided to once a week give a “what is in my favourites” link. I don’t use favourites in my browser but I do have a few weeks of them. Then maybe I will change it to “whats on my mind”.
So today’s favourite is left over from my renovation last year, we found parquet flooring under the carpets so we had to remove the carpet. I found this site pretty interesting and if anyone is planning on removing your carpets I recommend you take a glance at this site, it might give you some help.

Well it’s that time again

Busy Sunday

Posted in UQWIA

Well I don’t have a huge amount to say today as I spent the day (after church) at a little town called cullinan (where the cullinan diamond was found). It was a very nice day and we had a good lunch and then strolled around the little town for a bit. I took quite a few photos so I will post some of them when I get more time later in the week. I also bought some new cymbals for my drum kit on Friday, so I will try and get some photos of them during the week as well. They are really nice cymbals, Sabian Xs20 which are B20 cymbals. They sound pretty awesome.

Well I thought that you need something a bit more substantial so lets look at Useless Question with Really Interesting answers number 2. I watched Barnyard yesterday and seeing the cows walking around with the udders sticking out, reminded me of a question that was bugging a few of us at the office a couple of years ago. How many teats does a cows udder have? The options were 4 or 6. I was convinced it was 6 but wikipedia says that it is 4. Maybe I am confusing the cow with the 6 bottles of milk that gets delivered everyday to many households around the world. So the official answer here is 4.
