Guys I need some help, I am looking for information on cajon (ka-hon) drumming. I am looking for tutorials on how to play, and also how to build one. If you don’t know what a cajon drum is then check out this video.
After I posted yesterday I looked for more videos from the EDS commercial series, this one had me on the floor.

I attended our church’s first men’s seminar yesterday. The topics on discussion were very interesting and Rev. Brian Stone from Emmanuel Baptist did a very good job of putting some Biblical perspective on the issues.
The following sessions were held:
Session 1: A man & his work
Session 2: A man & his worship
Session 3: A man & his wife
Click the play buttons above to play the sessions.

Hold on, what’s going on? Last week the posts were missing and now the poster is missing. I am posting this Thursday because I will not be close to an internet connection this weekend, so have a good weekend, and remember…

I am listening to The House FM (My Favourite internet radio station) again and am really enjoying the music they are playing. I listened a little while ago to a really great song by Chris Tomlin, unfortunately the name of the song escapes me but the song reminds me that even though my heart is filled with a sin nature, God still loves me and Jesus will wash away my sin.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God” - Rom 3:23
“For the Wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Rom 6:23
I have also spent some time now queuing up a couple of posts over the next couple of days because I will be away this weekend. I am joining some friends close to Kruger Park in South Africa. It should be a good relaxing time, and good to get away from the various stresses of normal life. Not that I am really stressed, since I joined my current employer my blood pressure has gone from being slightly high to a pretty normal 120/80 and this has been tested on two different occasions about 52 days apart. (Yes that is between blood donations)
Talking about stress and their symptoms, I have noticed that my left eye has started twitching. I read today that this is a symptom of stress but I am not really stressed but it started when I got new glasses. I am hoping it is just a symptom of my eyes relaxing from working so hard to correct my vision and not a sympton of having incorrect glasses. If it doesn’t go away in the next week I will take a trip back to the optometrist and have him check it out.
Hmmm, just listening to Praying for sunny days by Hyperstatic Union. Sounds good but in the it will grow on you kind of way. Maybe some of their other songs will be awesome, but I liked the sound maybe just not the song.
Oh well, gotta get some packing done and start to plan my route on the GPS for tomorrow.

I am busy listening to The House FM (My Favourite internet radio station) at the moment and they are busy closing off the second day of their fund raising efforts. They have recently announced that they are way behind for their target. I enjoy their station for the music that they play and the fact that they focus on playing music as a ministry and not a business. Obviously though, things cost money and that is why they need to raise their operating costs one a year.
The days at the moment seem to be flying by and it’s wuite scary. I used to be able to do everything that I wanted to in plenty of time, now it’s really difficult to finish something. Oh well, I guess thats life
I found this really cool game on Thinkgeek. Just placed my order and am really anxious for them to ship it. It’s called Polarity and involves placing pieces according to their magnetic field. It sounds like one wrong move and you can really start a chain reaction of magnetic chaos. You can read about Polarity at http://www.polaritygame.com.

My favourite radio station is The House FM (My Favourite internet radio station). It is great to be able to listen to some music which clearly shows God’s love toward us and helps us to stay focussed on scripture. The reason why I wanted to dedicate this post to them is because they are in the process of raising funds to continue with their broadcasts. The House FM is the only radio station I know which pays for their broadcasts in this way. All the other stations litter the music with adverts and sometimes the DJ’s just won’t be quiet themselves and play some music. The House FM plays music, they are a music radio station, that is their focus and for that I was proud to pledge my support for their upcoming financial year. The money seems like such a lot when you think of it in Rands but it is well worth it.
So why don’t you go over to their website, listen a bit to their broadcast, pray for God’s guidance on which amount to give, and hit the pledge or GO button on their website.

Another day, another public holiday. May the first, or may day is gone. As the day ends I find myself asking “what exactly is may day all about?”. Well there is an answer, and of course it would be on Wikipedia. I think the answer can be summarised though, that may day has so many holidays associated with it that the government just makes it a public holiday and lets the people celebrate as they please.
So today I had a couple of friends round who wanted to play my drum kit. I don’t think they realised how loud the thing was cause I got the idea that they wanted to get one to play at their house. Problem is they live in a block of flats :-), man will they be popular with the neighbours or what? Then when he sat down at the kit he wanted to tickle it, but he eventually started loosening up and playing a standard 8/4 Rock beat.
If anyone wants to try and learn drums, you can try the course over at http://www.studydrums.com. I have tried the course and it is good, I found it better for my style of learning to go to a real live instructor but I still use the online course to better my knowledge, especially since I haven’t been for lessons now in six months.
I went to the drive in yesterday in pretoria at the Menlyn shopping centre. The movies playing were The Reef and The History boys. Let me give you a short bit of advice on History boys. Don’t go see it. It is that simple, we lasted about 30mins and those 30mins were filled with questions like “Do you get the story here?”. It seems to be a british film, is filled with swearing and taking the Lord’s name in vain.
The Reef was interesting, good for children to just watch the fishies swimming in the sea. It was filled with bright colours and talking fish. The humour though is probably not going to be picked up by your average 10 year old. With references to “Ricky Marlin” and a couple of other gems, it got quite a few chuckles from the two adults in the car. I think it is a good movie to go watch with your kids in the 6-13 range or around those ages. Everyone should find some enjoyment out of the movie.
I have just gotten back from the Emporers palace Amusement Arcade, and let me just say, I was not too amused. A large number of the games were switched off, and about half the rest didn’t work. They either ate your money or refused to reward winners with tickets. All the machines were very badly maintained. For an example they had a drum machine. A song plays and you are supposed to play the beat on the drum pads. Needless to say, some unidentified idiot decided to steal the drum sticks connected to the machine, and the managers didn’t think to go to a music shop and buy a couple of pairs of drum sticks which usually go for about 100 bucks a pair. What the staff there decided to do was tape up the wires that used to hold the sticks and then you must play with that causing damage to the sensors on the machine.
Well it’s now 40mins into the 2nd of May so I am going to get some sleep.
Well another day has passed, this week seems to be flying. Maybe it’s just because I am looking forward to the concert on Friday. So with the postponement of the Guns ‘n Roses global tour, the lineup for Friday looks like this according to the 5fm website:
12.15 - 12.45 Fevertree 30 mins
13.00 - 13.30 J 30 mins
13.45 - 14.15 Cassette 30 mins
14.30 - 15.00 Evolver 30 mins
15.15 - 15.45 Parlotones 30 mins
16.00 - 16.30 SNG 30 mins
17.00 - 18.00 Hoobastank 60 mins
18.30 - 19.30 Staind 60 mins
20.00 - 21.00 3 Doors Down 60 mins
21.30 - 23.00 Evanescence 90 mins
23.20 - 23.50 Wickhead 30 mins
Now I have heard Springbok Nude Girls (SNG) and Parlotones and their music is pretty good (For non-Chrisitian bands that is ) but I have never heard of any of the others so I think it will be an experience to remember.
And there’s even more, I am planning on moblogging from the event. Now I am not promising that I will have my blog ready for moblogging but I am going to try and get it working tomorrow so anyone who wants to read the latest will be able to follow along. I will let you know if any of the ridiculous things that happened last year happen again this year. (Read about it Here or Here) I think that people have been unsure about the organisation of this concert, so when G&R cancelled I think half the people looked back to last year, shook their heads and returned their tickets. Well there are no complaints from me, as I was too late to get Golden Circle tickets but someone cancelled theirs making more available so I upgraded my tickets.
I can’t say much for the marketing of the concert though. I saw some new advertising boards go up this week advertising Gun ‘n Roses live in concert. That will require some explaining
